New Shepard's in-flight escape system was intentionally activated to test the mechanism. It was not expected that the booster would survive the event, however, the booster continued to space and made a successful landing on the landing pad, after which it was retired.

Mission 6 was an inflight escape test for the Crew Capsule prototype. The capsule successfully demonstrated its ability to escape from the New Shepard vehicle at the point of maximum aerodynamic pressure in the event of an anomaly.
