Starhopper is a smaller-scale Starship prototype vehicle. It was a pathfinder used to help SpaceX gain experience with stainless steel. It performed the first two flight tests of SpaceX's methane-fueled Raptor engine.
Starhopper successfully hopped to 150 meters using Raptor SN6. Towards the end of the flight, the Raptor engine experienced an anomaly, resulting in a harder than planned landing. However, Starhopper survived the impact.
Starhopper successfully completed the first-ever test flight of a Raptor engine. The flight reached an apogee of approximately 18 meters using Raptor SN6.
Starhopper conducted its third static fire engine test. This test used Raptor SN6.
Starhopper conducted a preburner test with its Raptor engine.
Starhopper successfully completed its second static fire. The test used Raptor SN2.
Starhopper performed the first-ever static fire of a Raptor engine in Boca Chica, Texas. The test used Raptor SN2.
